Maternity Nurses will have a professional qualification or considerable newborn experience knowing all there is to know about new babies. They can be booked for any length of time (we recommend 4-6 weeks) and will help feed and care for your baby, and, best of all, take over completely when you need a rest.
Maternity Nurses can expected to undertake the following responsibilities :
* Preparing all milk feeds and sterilising equipment
* Feeding the baby day and night
* Advising on breast feeding as necessary
* Washing and ironing all of baby's clothes cot linen etc.
* Bathing and changing the baby as required.
* Daily tidying of nursery area.
Maternity Nurses tend to live-in for the period of time employed and are on hand 24 hours with breaks during the day. They could also expect a minimum of 24hrs off within any 7-day period, although positions can be for just days or just nights.
Nights only Maternity Nurse
Night Maternity Nurses will work for up to 6 nights per week. Most will work from between 8 to 10 p.m. until 7 to 8 a.m. and be off duty during the day. They specialise in getting particularly wakeful babies to sleep through the night.
Daily Maternity Nurse
Daily Maternity Nurses generally live out and usually work between 10 and 12 hours per day up to 6 days per week. Daily maternity nurses are ideal for families who have limited space or who prefer not to have someone living in.
